Bombay Beach and the Salton Sea

The Salton Sea is a peculiar place. Much of it has been desolate since it fell out of favor, since its hey day. It was once a vacation destination for the rich and famous, and would go on to become an ecological disaster, a eutrophic lake, where fish can't survive.

Oak Canyon

Tucked away in Anaheim Hills is a small canyon, filled with oaks, wildflowers, and birds. Oak Canyon is a place you can get away from it all, on a short, manageable trail, beneath the oaks. There are trails ranging from under a mile, to a three mile loop here, for all levels.

Holy Jim Falls

I hiked to Holy Jim Falls once the trail had re-opened after the Holy Fire ravaged the area. The trail from Holy Jim to Santiago Peak is still closed. There is beautiful scenery all along the way.
