I section hiked PCT Section A, starting in Scissors Crossing, as a solo female backpacker. I planned to hike to Warner Springs, and flip back to Campo, when I had a permit, which would be April.

The Boo Hoff Trail
I decided to hike the Boo Hoff Trail in La Quinta, CA in late February. The trail begins at The Cove trailhead, which is the jumping off point for a network of several other trails, such as the Cove to Lake Trail, and the Bear Creek Oasis, along with some unmarked ones. There is a free parking lot, restrooms, and a shade structure there.
Chiquito Falls
Here is a guide to Hiking to Chiquito Falls near Lake Elsinore, along with the San Juan Loop Trail, and San Juan Falls. One thing to note about the hike to Chiquito Falls is that it is less technical to reach it than other waterfall hikes, while being longer, with more elevation gain. A hike here does not require Class 2+3 scrambling over large boulders, such as in Black Star Canyon.
Hiking Guide to Palm Desert
Hiking in Palm Desert: There are plenty of hikes to choose from in the area here for each skill level with every type of terrain. Explore the undulating wavelike rock formations of the Indio Badlands. You might possibly spot a herd of Bighorn Sheep in Carrizo Canyon. Take a bit of a longer hike in the hills above Palm Desert viewing far peaks along Art Smith trail. The desert is a beautiful place to explore.
