Just south of Solana Beach is California's Torrey Pines. It's an area known for beautiful beaches, and good surf. The Nature Preserve here is named after one of the worlds rarest pine trees, the Torrey Pine. The first trail I came to was the Guy Fleming Trail. They say he was to Torrey Pines, what John Muir was to the Sierras. He was this parks original resident caretaker, along with playing a role in creating other State Parks I have come to know and love, such as Anza Borrego. His goal was to inspire, and promote conservation efforts. This trail is part of his legacy.

The whole 12 mile loop on Day 3, took me 8 hrs, with a few short breaks along the way. I grabbed a cold drink at the store, and headed back to camp, to pack up for my 4:45 pm ferry ride home.
Trail Diary: Day 2 on the Trans Catalina Trail – Blackjack to Two Harbors 15.7 miles
I awoke to raindrops on my tent at Blackjack campground around 6 am. The sun had just begun to rise, and I was slow to get out of bed. I was snug as a bug in my quilt, and liner. It was in the low 50's, and not too chilly. I peeked outside the tent,… Continue reading Trail Diary: Day 2 on the Trans Catalina Trail – Blackjack to Two Harbors 15.7 miles

It's my unique experience, and why leave out the juicy details, since… Continue reading Trail Diary: Day 1 of Hiking the Trans Catalina Trail (TCT) 37.5 Miles in 3 Days
