Buck Gully in December

It was a cool late afternoon in December as I headed over to the Buck Gully Trail in Corona Del Mar.As I trodded along listening to the sound of the peaceful creek which flows alongside the trail, I felt like I was walking within a zen retreat of some sort. There was a very gradual amount of gain along the way on this hike. My hike today was only about 4 miles to the signage by the powerpole, and back, although there is an extension that continues onto San Joaquin Hills Road, which I did not explore. I would also consider this a wonderful easy hike if you're just starting to get into hiking and don't want something that's too technical or long.

North Loop Trail to East Ridge – 6 miles in Peter’s Canyon

It's one of the most popular hiking trails in Orange County, and it is popular with hikers, runners, and mountain bikers. With distant mountain views, just about anyone looking to get fit outdoors will find a reason to like the trails of Peter's Canyon. Multiple hills, wide accessible trails, and numerous route options draw a crowd. The reservoir and neighboring marsh create a habitat for migrating birds, making it a birding destination as well.

Hiking to Stoddard Peak

Several mountain peaks surround this one, such as Sunset Peak, Sugarloaf Peak, Potato Mountain, and of course Ontario Peak. There is another prominence called Turtle’s Beak, which I have heard of people hiking to. That one sounds like a mostly… Continue reading Hiking to Stoddard Peak

Ontario and Bighorn Peaks

Follow along on my hike to Ontario Peak. You begin the hike at Icehouse Canyon trailhead, just off Mt Baldy Road. This trailhead is the gateway for several other hikes: The Three T’s Hike, Cucamonga Peak, and Icehouse Saddle. There is a small parking lot which begins to fill up by 6am. Hope this Hiking Guide helps you plan your visit to Icehouse Canyon and Ontario Peak.
