I visited Sequoia Park in July of 2023, and travelled on several scenic trails, staying at Lodgepole Campground. The trailhead to Tokopah Falls begins at Lodgepole Campground in Sequoia National Park, just after crossing over the Kaweah River Bridge towards the rear of the campground.
Are you looking for a fun art walk, right within the central valley of California? Exeter, CA is filled with a total of 31 colorful murals, you would not expect to see, in a small farming town. The murals celebrate farm workers, and agricultural heritage of the area.
We went for a 4 walk around the 300 acre San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary between rain squalls of the atmospheric river that was hitting California. The wetlands here act as a natural water filter. The plants found here, such as bullrush, help to filter urban runoff from San Diego Creek before it reaches Upper Newport Bay.
I went on a 10 mile Mountain Bike Ride and Hike in Black Star Canyon at the Mariposa Reserve. I parked at the trailhead, and road on up the wide flat road, to see how far I would climb into the hills. The wide, flat, sometimes rutted road leading to Black Star Canyon Falls, draws a crowd, especially on weekends. Whether it’s waterfalls, wildflowers, history, or mystery, Black Star Canyon continues to be a magnet to visitors.
