Exploring “Trails” and Tidepools in Spring

Follow me on my springtime hike through the San Onofre State Beach Bluffs, a place mainly known for its surfing, not hiking. This place is called “Trails,” by surfers, due to a large number of steep trails, leading down to the beach from the parking area. It is rarely crowded here, and a place to feel like you're getting away from it all.

A Windy Day and a Big Swell in Dana Point: Killer Dana Rises Again

The swell was building, as massive waves crashed across Dana Point breakwater, a long jetty protecting the harbor. I was standing right by the Ocean Institute with the headlands towering above. I always loved this spot, for checking the waves.

San Onofre Bluffs Hike

Just south of San Clemente, off Basilone road, you continue driving south past the powerplant toward San Onofre State Beach, where there is a campground, along with miles of bluffs, and trails.
