Waterman Mountain Loop

My goal for today’s hike was to explore the Waterman Mountain loop, that sits within a scenic wilderness area of the San Gabriel Mountains. The trailhead sits along SR-2, the Angeles Crest Highway, and is a bit out of the way. It is well past Chilao Campground, and Mount Williamson, along with most of civilization. The highway had been closed for repairs for sometime, which made visiting here again exciting.

2 Peaks in a Day – Thunder Mountain and Telegraph Peak

On a cool fall day I set out to hike to two peaks, in one day: Thunder Mountain, and Telegraph Peak. The Three T’s is a popular hike in the Angeles National Forest, near Mount Baldy. I would be hiking up Mount Baldy Rd. from Manker Flats, passing “the Notch,” and heading on to Thunder Mountain, before coming to the sign for the Three T’s Hike, in the Cucamonga Wilderness.

Cucamonga Peak Elevation

I would be hiking to Cucamonga Peak in the Angeles Forest. This is a scenic and beautiful 12 mile hike, with about 4000 feet of gain, past Icehouse Saddle. There is a creek running through Icehouse Canyon. There were lots of beautiful cascading waterfalls here.
