Mount Baden Powell – The First High Peak I Ever Climbed Solo

May 2021 It was in the 50's one sunny afternoon in May, when I headed up into the mountains, on past the tiny quaint hiker town of Wrightwood, on Highway 2. I had waited for the snow in the mountains nearby to melt in anticipation of climbing up to the top of one of the… Continue reading Mount Baden Powell – The First High Peak I Ever Climbed Solo

Trail Diary: The Trans Catalina Trail – 12 Mile Loop from Two Harbors to Parsons Landing Day 3

It was the 3rd day of my journey on the TCT. I woke up at 6 am, and was still exhausted. I planned to get in an 11 mile hike today. Everything I needed was laid out and ready to go. The whole 12 mile loop on Day 3, took me 8 hrs, with a few short breaks along the way. I grabbed a cold drink at the store, and headed back to camp, to pack up for my 4:45 pm ferry ride home.

It's my unique experience, and why leave out the juicy details, since… Continue reading Trail Diary: Day 1 of Hiking the Trans Catalina Trail (TCT) 37.5 Miles in 3 Days

Iron Mountain in Poway, CA Elevation 2681

I set out on the 6 mile trail to Iron Mountain (Elevation 2684), leaving from the trailhead around 9am. This is "Little" Iron Mountain, not Big Iron, the one with 7000 feet of gain in the Angeles Forest. This hike has far less gain, but is definitely challenging.
