I decided to hike the Boo Hoff Trail in La Quinta, CA in late February. The trail begins at The Cove trailhead, which is the jumping off point for a network of several other trails, such as the Cove to Lake Trail, and the Bear Creek Oasis, along with some unmarked ones. There is a free parking lot, restrooms, and a shade structure there.

Ghost Mountain and Yaquitepec
I drove out to the Blair Valley in early February in search of an old homestead I heard about in Anza Borrego State Park. It was located in the southern section of the park. Cattle Crest and Rabbit Run from Quail Hill
From the Quail Hill parking area in Irvine I set out to enjoy the Bommer Canyon Open Access Day. Registration was not required, and it was free to park at the trailhead here, unlike some of the other nearby trailheads. Hope this guide is helpful for planning your hikes on Bommer Canyon Open Access Day.
Exploring Black Star Canyon and Mariposa Reserve
I went on a 10 mile Mountain Bike Ride and Hike in Black Star Canyon at the Mariposa Reserve. I parked at the trailhead, and road on up the wide flat road, to see how far I would climb into the hills. The wide, flat, sometimes rutted road leading to Black Star Canyon Falls, draws a crowd, especially on weekends. Whether it’s waterfalls, wildflowers, history, or mystery, Black Star Canyon continues to be a magnet to visitors.
