I hike around Dana Point all the time. It’s a flat scenic and easy walk by the harbor, where you can take in the ocean breezes.

People were paddleboarding on this sunny day. There was very little wind, which makes for the best conditions.

I started my hike on the south side of the harbor, by the Windansea.

I hiked down towards The Ocean Institute and noticed there was a crane doing some sort of work on the harbor.

There was not that many people out walking, and it felt very peaceful here.

I passed by Baby Beach, which is a great place to paddleboard, or lounge. The lack of waves makes it popular with families, with young children, who don’t yet know how to swim. I is a relatively unintimidating beach compared to the surrounding ones.

There are paths around each of the wharves, and this one is where they hold sailing classes. I have taken the classes here and I recommend them.

I finally came to the end of the trail, at the scenic bluffs, or Dana Point Headlands. If I am looking for an easy hike, where I can check out the boats, and smell the salty air, I will often opt for a hike around Dana Point Harbor. It’s non-strenuous, and there are plenty of places to spot, and take a break along the way. I have always loved all things nautical, which is yet another reason I love this hike.
Fun Fact: Richard Henry Dana threw sea lion pelts of the bluffs behind me, a long time ago.
