Oak Canyon

2-2-22

Tucked away in Anaheim Hills is a small canyon, filled with oaks, wildflowers, and birds.

Oak Canyon is a place you can get away from it all, on a short, manageable trail, beneath the oaks.

As you climb higher up Roadrunner Ridge, you will get another view, stretching as far as the high peaks of the Angeles Forest.

The shady oaks and a series of small bridges across the stream, seem to be the real draw here though, along with the nature center.

It’s a peaceful place to explore, and escape the heat on a warm day, since most of the hike is shaded. There are lots of benches too, so this is a nice hike, if your looking for an easy beginner trail, with lots of natural beauty.

You don’t have to be a beginner hiker to enjoy exploring Oak Canyon.

There are lots of native plants growing here, like this Toyon with its bright red berries. A visit to the nature center, and the small mining display, all add to what makes this an interesting place to explore for all ages.

You can extend your hike from Oak Canyon, with a loop around Walnut Canyon Reservoir. Anaheim Hills is filled with so many other trails too, such as Deer Canyon, and beautiful Weir Canyon.

I hope you enjoyed reading this, and it is helpful in knowing what to expect, should you decide to visit here.
