When it comes to gut health, several methods to achieving it come to mind. I grew up eating Dannon yogurt, which is actually filled with sugar. I tended to believe yogurt was the secret. Being filled with probiotics, there is truth to that.
Later in life I came to find other remedies, such as fermented saurkraut, kimchi, and of course kombucha. One of the biggest things I do for my gut health, is simply avoid inflammatory foods, along with the biggest culprit to throw your gut out of balance, sugar.
There are so many ways to promote a healthy gut, that it’s sometimes hard to decide which one to rely on. Gut shots, seemed like a conspiracy at first, by my local juice bar to charge me a whole lot of money for one sip of juice.
Whether you make it yourself, or pick one up in a juice bar, gut shots really pack a punch. The only difference is these gut shots won’t hit you hard in the financial department.
I hope you will enjoy my Turmeric Lemon Ginger Juice shots. Then are 100% yum! As an added bonus, no juicer is required!
Tools
- Blender
- Large Measuring Cup
- Large Mason Jar with Lid or a Glass
- Bowl or Large measuring cup (large enough for strainer to sit over, to collect juice)
- Fine mesh Strainer
- Serrated Utility Knife
- Cutting board

Ingredients
- 1 Ginger Root
- 3 pieces of Turmeric Root
- 1 Lemon
- Stevia or Agave to taste
- Filtered Water
- Pinch of Cayenne (optional)
Directions
The first step is gathering everything you will need. As long as you have a few simple tools, and ingredients, you can make the juice. I like to use a vitamix blender. I have been using one a long time, and it has so many different uses. I recommend picking one up at Costco, where they always seem to be on sale.

Eat the Peels
Wash your ingredients and pat dry. There is no need to peel them. Leaving the lemon peel adds some extra zing. It has some hidden health benefits too, such as promoting weight loss. So I always eat the peels. The ginger and turmeric roots I would typically peel, but since we will be straining this juice, there is no need to peel them either.
I use a sharp serrated utility knife for cutting lemon, turmeric, and ginger, along with a sturdy wood cutting board. Boos block is a great cutting board, and the one preferred by professional chefs. If you really feel use must peel ginger, simply use the back of a small spoon, since the peels easily come off that way.
Place your ingredients in the blender, along with desired sweetener. You could try stevia, agave, or maple syrup. I like stevia or agave in mine. You can even add a pinch of cayenne too. Blend for about 2-3 minutes until completely blended. It will begin to turn a bright vibrant yellow, mainly due to the turmeric. Be careful not to get it on your counters, or clothing, since this stuff stains.
It’s best to start the blender on low, progressing to a higher setting as the ingredients get smoother. I also place my hand on the lid to stabilize the blender. Eventually it will be fully pulverized, and time to strain it.

Pour it into a bowl, or 4 cup pyrex cup over a fine mesh strainer. Measuring cups make it easier to pour. Next pour into a mason jar with a lid, and use within 3-5 days .
These gut shots are both refreshing, and good for your gut. If you love lemon, ginger, and turmeric, I know may love these gut shots too, along with all the money you will save!
